No Membership Fee

To become a member of Jersey Shore Federal Credit Union, you must open a regular share account. Deposit and maintain as little as $25 in this account and you will be eligible for the many benefits of credit union membership. If you keep your account open for at least three months, you will get this deposit back if you ever decide to close your account, although we think that's unlikely.

Banks Credit Unions
Decisions are made to earn a profit for the stockholders. Decisions are made to benefit the members.
The board of directors is paid. The board of directors is made up of volunteers.
Only stockholders can vote for the board of directors. Every member can vote for the board of directors.
Profit earned is returned to the stockholders in the form of dividends. Profit earned is returned to members in the form of lower loan rates, better saving rates and low or no fee services.
Banks are for profit. They pay taxes to the government. Credit unions are not-for-profit.
They are exempt from federal taxes.
Deposits are federally insured by the FDIC up to $250,000. Deposits are federally insured by the NCUA up to $250,000.
